My girlfriend and I went out on a date today to get an early start on celebrating our monthsary. We hit up the mall and did our absolute favorite tradition—stepping into a photobooth to take some goofy, memorable pictures together. No matter how many times we go to the mall, this is the one routine we never skip, and it was so nice to just relax, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.
The day also brought a little bit of eye-opening reality for her. We had to commute together, and because of the intense, scorching heat and the sheer hassle of public transport, she finally realized just how exhausting it is to be a student commuter like me. Navigating the crowds and the weather isn’t easy, and experiencing it firsthand gave her a whole new appreciation for the daily grind I go through.
Even though the commute was a bit brutal, I wouldn’t trade the day for anything. Sharing those photobooth laughs made the heat totally worth it, and having her understand my daily reality just brought us even closer together.
